Cedric Lorenzo, M.D., F.A.C.S.

After completing much of his advanced studies at the University of Hawaii, Dr. Lorenzo went on to gain additional training and experience by completing two specialty fellowships at Northwestern University and the Oregon Health & Science University. While in Oregon, Dr. Lorenzo helped pioneer cutting edge endoscopic procedures including NOTES (natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery) and endoscopic plication procedures for severe gastroesophageal reflux disease. However, it was always his goal to return home and care for the people of Hawaii. So in 2008, he returned to Hawaii where he was appointed Assistant Professor of Surgery and is a key leader in surgical education as the Associate Program Director of the University of Hawaii Surgical Residency Program.

Dr. Lorenzo is very active in our medical community and currently serves as the Director of Bariatrics and Minimally Invasive Surgery Programs for the University of Hawaii and the Queen’s Medical Center. As an expert in digestive diseases, he has authored several chapters and videos in key textbooks on the evaluation and treatment of these disorders using endoscopy and minimally invasive surgery techniques.
