Dr. Christina J. Wai is a surgical oncologist who obtained her medical degree from Georgetown University and completed a general surgery residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. She went on to Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia and underwent a fellowship in complex general surgical oncology. She is double board-certified in General Surgery and Complex General Surgical Oncology. Dr. Wai is committed to surgical education. She serves as the Director of Surgical Education at Queen’s West and is an Associate Program Director of the general surgery residency.
Before coming to Hawaii, Dr. Wai was a surgical oncologist at Hartford Healthcare in Connecticut and was also an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the UConn School of Medicine. She also practiced in Los Angeles as well. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology, Association of Women Surgeons, and the Society of Asian Academic Surgeons.
Her clinical areas of interest are gastrointestinal cancers including pancreatic, gastric, colorectal, gallbladder, and other abdominal tumors. She uses minimally invasive techniques in the treatment of cancers. She also has expertise in the treatment of skin, soft tissue cancers, and common general surgical diseases.
